Read before you play
Server rules
By being in this Discord or joining the city you agree to every rule here. Rules can change at any time, so check them often. Staff can act on anything that breaks the spirit of serious roleplay, even if it is not written here.
1Community
- You must be 18 or older.
- Respect everyone. Racial slurs, homophobic terms and other derogatory language are never allowed, in the city or in Discord. Zero tolerance, permanent ban.
- No harassment, threats, doxxing or toxicity, including on streams and in voice.
- No advertising and no invites to other Discord servers.
- One account per person. Never share, sell or transfer accounts.
- Impersonating staff gets you banned.
- Stay on topic in each channel. No spam, mass pings or all-caps shouting.
- Staff decisions are final unless you appeal through the proper channel. Do not argue punishments in public, and do not discuss other people's bans.
2How to Get In
- Read these rules, press Verify and type the verify word shown there.
- You need GTA V Enhanced and the FiveM Enhanced client.
- Link your Discord in FiveM (Settings > Connections) and keep the Discord app open when you connect. The city checks that you are in this Discord and have the Citizen role, so press Verify first.
- In FiveM open Browse Servers, paste
51.161.87.33:30214and press Enter, or search for Chalkline RP. - Make your character, then open the in-game guidebook to learn the jobs, crimes and systems.
3Voice, Equipment & Fair Play
Your setup
- A good microphone is required. Push-to-talk must be on at all times.
- Voice changers are only allowed if you can be clearly heard and understood.
- No copyrighted music on car radios, speakers or streams. Use original or royalty-free music only.
- Do not appear in another player's livestream while you are in the city.
Cheating and exploits
- No cheats, trainers, injectors, mod menus or anything that gives an unfair advantage. That includes no-prop or no-water tricks, stretched resolution, FOV changes and fast-reload tricks. Permanent ban, no appeal.
- Graphics packs (ReShade, weather and sound packs) are fine. If you are unsure, ask staff first.
- Do not abuse bugs. If you find one, report it. Using it for money, items or an advantage gets you banned and the gains removed.
- Duplicating items or money is a permanent ban.
- Do not move money, items, vehicles or property between your own accounts or characters. Do not create characters to funnel assets to another character.
Characters
- Up to two characters per account, each with a realistic name that does not break platform rules.
- Stay in character. Report problems after the scene, through the front desk, a ticket or staff. Do not threaten reports in character.
- Stick to your character's traits, strengths and flaws.
3BTwo Characters
One player, two different people
- Your two characters are two different people. They share no information, no knowledge and no history of any situation.
- If people find out you have two characters, you can call them your cousin. Always stay in character.
- If you have a COP and a CRIM character: DO NOT CHEAT. Do not share inventory, do not try to use information from one on the other, and do not stash an item for your other character, or the other way round.
- Be fair and RP.
- Breaking this rule is an AUTOMATIC BAN.
4Roleplay Core Rules
RDM (Random Death Match): killing or attacking someone with no roleplay or reason. A shootout must start with real spoken roleplay first.
VDM (Vehicle Death Match): using a vehicle to hit or kill people with no reason. Head-on crashes at extreme speed are also NVL.
FailRP: doing something no real person would do. Examples: jumping mountains in a 4x4, flying a supercar off a ramp onto a freeway, ignoring injuries, getting up after being tased.
NVL (Not Valuing Life): value your character's life. If you are outnumbered or have a gun on you, comply. Fear for your life, even if your character is tough.
NITRP (No Intent To Roleplay): do not run from the police, or flee a scene, just because you want to. Know why you are running.
Powergaming: forcing a result your character cannot cause. Examples: godmode, ignoring a shot, shooting right after tackling someone before they can react, dumping a downed player in the sea to wipe their memory.
Metagaming: using anything your character did not learn in character. Streams, Discord, voice calls and DMs must not be used to coordinate or give away information.
NLR (New Life Rule): if you are downed and revived or sent to hospital, forget the scene. You cannot return to it, or take revenge, for 30 minutes.
Combat logging: leaving the game during a scene to dodge the result gets you banned. If the server crashes, come back and finish EMS treatment, police custody or a hostage scene.
Cop-baiting: deliberately causing a police response with no roleplay reason.
Third-partying: joining or helping in someone else's scene you were not part of. Once you leave a scene, you cannot rejoin it.
Active scenes: you cannot leave to heal, restock, or swap a car from a garage mid-scene and then come back.
Tased = done. You do not get up, run, shoot or swing. Not up for debate.
5Inventory, Items & Weapons
Looting
- No pocket-wiping. Only take what makes sense for your character to want, not a downed person's whole inventory.
- Looting someone from a scene you were not part of is a bannable offence.
- Gang colours and identifying items you take must stay on your character. Do not stash them.
- Looting a downed officer is allowed. Hanging around the scene afterwards is FailRP.
Weapons (the automatic-weapons law)
- Automatic weapons are trunk only. Carry one in the open and it is charge W04. They cannot go in a glovebox.
- 3 or more automatic weapons on one person or in one vehicle = intent to distribute (W03).
- Do not pull an automatic weapon "out of nowhere". Get it from a real trunk, in character, before the scene.
- Weapons are drawn for a reason. Do not brandish in police stations or hospitals.
- Taser cartridges, armour, lockpicks and other tools are limited items. Use them in character.
Dirty money and contraband
- Marked bills (dirty money) must be laundered. Do not trade them as if they were clean cash.
- Drugs, weapons and ammo are contraband. Police seize it and it is taken off you in jail.
- Evidence bags go to the evidence locker. Never keep seized items.
Storage and keys
- Your stash, locker or house storage is yours. Do not use it to dodge a search while the scene is ongoing.
- Vehicles are locked until you have the keys or pick the lock. Do not break into a car just to get a free ride.
- Department police vehicles belong to the police. Do not steal or search them.
6Jobs, Money & the City
Duty and jobs
- Police, EMS and fire must go on duty at their station's front desk to use their powers. Off duty you are a civilian: no police gear, powers or radio use.
- Your salary is paid every 10 minutes only if you are actually working. AFK farming, standing in a truck, or looping a job to cheat the timer is exploiting.
- One government job per character.
- Do not abuse job tools. Examples: handing out armory weapons outside real roleplay, using the MDT or dispatch to feed information to friends, editing records outside real procedure.
- Only EMS and police use their systems for their own work. Do not help a friend using your job's access.
Money and the economy
- Keep your money honest. No duping, no trading real money for items, no funnelling cash through alt characters.
- Banks, loans and savings are part of the roleplay. Do not exploit them, and do not skip a loan on purpose to abuse the credit system.
- If you are scammed in character, that is part of the story. Scamming with out-of-character promises is not.
Housing and vehicles
- Rent is charged daily. Missing it locks the door, it never deletes your things.
- Do not block doors, garages, spawn points or job locations.
- Drive realistically. No ramming for no reason and no using your car as a weapon.
Downed and respect
- Roleplay your injuries. Do not treat EMS as a vending machine for revives, give them something to work with.
- No gloating over a downed player and no camping a hospital after a fight.
6BPlayer-Owned Businesses
Owning and working at one (the car dealership, Burger Shot, gas stations, stores, the used-car lot)
- Run it with real players. Do not sell to your own alt or a friend at a fake price to move money, farm commission or empty the treasury.
- A business's money is audited. Taking cash out of a treasury you do not own, or any trick to drain one, is exploiting.
- Prices and stock are part of the roleplay, but no out-of-character scams. Describe a car or product honestly in character, and do not list stolen or wanted vehicles.
- Keep it open. An owner who disappears or lets the upkeep lapse loses the business. That is how the system works, not a punishment.
- Delivery runs and company vehicles are for the job. Do not steal, wreck or sit on one to troll.
- Staff of a business act in its interest. Do not use the job's access (till, treasury, stock) for yourself or your friends.
7Police, EMS & Fire
Police conduct
- Use of force matches the threat. For normal crimes use talking, the taser and cuffs first.
- Shoot on sight is allowed for serious violent crime when the suspect clearly will not give up: someone who has shot at or killed people or officers, holds a hostage, or flees a heist armed, or who has a warrant for a violent crime or a history of violence or gang violence in the MDT (not from outside the game).
- Never shoot a suspect who is surrendering, compliant, tased or downed. Minor crimes never justify lethal force.
- Tasers fire one shot per cartridge. A tased suspect is down.
- Searches need a reason. A trunk search needs probable cause (a warrant, a BOLO, contraband in plain view, a credible tip or the owner's consent) and is logged with your name.
- Book arrests through the MDT with the right charges. Do not invent charges.
- No corruption. No bribes, no keeping seized items, no going easy on friends.
- Do not attack other emergency services or innocent civilians for no reason.
- End a pursuit that has become too dangerous to the public.
- Records and warrants are real roleplay. Do not edit them outside procedure.
AI police
When no officer is on duty the AI police answer crimes. They stop the moment a real officer clocks in.
EMS and fire
- Treat patients with real roleplay and the right treatment.
- EMS and fire are neutral. Never shoot at or rob them while they work.
- Do not use your access to revive friends outside a scene or sneak them gear.
Complaints and joining
- To join the PD, talk to the Desk Sergeant at Mission Row and take the entrance exam. The Chief reviews every application.
- To report a crime or an officer (anonymously if you want), use the same desk.
- Telling officers how to do their job out of character is poor roleplay.
8Crime & Heists
General
- No more than 5 people in any one crime, including lookouts who pass information. Gang wars and server events are agreed exceptions.
- Ease into crime. Let your character learn the city before going all in on day one.
- Give a short breather between big hits. Every heist has its own cooldown. Never try to dodge or reset a cooldown.
- After a scene with the police, give it time before starting another. Repeated short-interval crimes can get harsher consequences.
- Every robbery needs a reason and some roleplay. "He was standing there" is not a reason.
- Do not rob the same person again and again. No robbing friends or crewmates.
Heists and robberies (banks, Vangelico, jewelry, Bobcat, trap houses, car heists, the container heist, ATMs, store tills, house break-ins)
- Respect the cop requirement for each job. If the game says not enough police are on, you cannot start it.
- Breaching another group's scene is not allowed. Do not take over their heist.
- Use the fixer, laundering and dealers as roleplay, not as a shortcut.
- Heist loot, drugs and guns are contraband. If you are caught, you lose it.
Hostages
- Real roleplay is required: a drawn weapon, an exchange of words and a reason tied to the crime. "Get in the car" with no scene does not count.
- Never use a friend or crewmate as a hostage. Do not carry a hostage over your shoulder in a vehicle.
- Release a hostage within 30 minutes or at the end of the heist, whichever comes first.
Police chases
- Do not ambush police or EMS by leading them somewhere you open fire with no warning.
- You may redirect police, but not by ramming at high speed.
- You may swap vehicles up to twice in one scene. After that the police may escalate.
- If your car is wrecked, get out and run or comply. Do not stand and shoot.
9Jail & Prison
Being arrested
- Your sentence is part of your story. Take it seriously and stay in character.
- No combat logging while in custody. If you disconnect, you return to the same scene.
- If you are in custody and EMS takes you to hospital, you are still in custody. You cannot run.
- A booking with jail time sends you to Bolingbroke. Your sentence is set by the charges and the court.
Inside
- Pat-down, belongings bagged and a uniform are standard. Contraband is taken off you when you leave.
- The work detail (yard cleanup, gardening, electrical repairs, kitchen, cigarette packing) is how you shorten your sentence. It can only take a quarter off. Do the real work. Do not AFK or exploit it.
- Cigarettes are the prison currency. Do not trade them for real money outside the game.
- Attacking a guard sends you to solitary. No jobs and no canteen while you are there.
- You can call a lawyer (once per sentence) or pay bail at the warden. Both cost money.
Breaking out is allowed, as roleplay
- Cut the fence with wire cutters. A guard who sees you raises the alarm and the outer fence always calls the police.
- If you are caught you serve the rest of your sentence plus 20 minutes, with a spell in solitary and no bail. A breakout also carries the charge P01 Escape from custody.
- No glitching, clipping or exploiting the escape. Use the real mechanic with real roleplay.
- Do not repeatedly break in and out with no roleplay behind it.
- No attacking, robbing or griefing other inmates for no reason.
Guards and officers
- Only on-duty officers act as guards. Do not put someone in solitary, or release them, as a favour.
10Gangs, Turf & Wars
Being in a gang
- One gang per player. A gang boss makes the gang with the in-game gang system.
- Members must meet the server tenure the staff set before you can act as an "established" gang, claim turf or start a war.
- Gang colours must be worn visibly (bandana, mask, armour, flag). Clothes colour, hair or car paint do not count as identification.
- No blacking out during a war. Allies must wear their own colours.
- The 5-person limit applies to every criminal act, not only wars.
Turf
- Only an established gang may claim turf, one turf per gang. Do not capture and hold land you cannot defend.
- Turf contests need agreed terms before the first shot.
Starting a war
- You need a real, substantial reason. Not valid: colours, stolen property, hurt feelings, social media beef or boredom.
- Talk first. Phone call, text, or a direct word, with a timeframe. Drive-bys and shooting on sight are not valid starts.
- Set war terms before it begins: when it ends, what happens to taken items and turf. Maximum 5 fights per war.
- 60 minute cooldown after any gang member goes down in a fight. It resets if your block is pushed again.
- Defenders are whoever is already present when the first shot is fired. No calling in outside reinforcements.
- After a war ends, neither side starts another against the other for 14 days.
- Break the terms and the war ends at once, and everything taken is returned.
Conduct
- No camping hospitals after a fight, no gloating over downed players, and no endless wars.
- Capture-the-boss: if your boss is arrested, you may get them back before they reach the station. Do not just run in shooting. Outnumber them and use hostages or talk. Once they are inside, they are caught.
11Reports, Punishments & Final Word
Reporting a player
- In the city: use the Desk Sergeant at Mission Row to report a crime or an officer. You can stay anonymous.
- On Discord: open a ticket. Include your name, the other player's name, their character name, ID, the time and clear video or screenshots.
- Do not argue about a report in public chat. Staff will deal with it.
What happens when you break a rule
- Staff can give you a warning, a mute, a timeout, an in-character jail sentence, a kick, a temporary ban or a permanent ban. It depends on how serious and how often.
- Some things are always severe: cheating, duping, slurs, doxxing, impersonating staff and combat logging.
- Minor rule breaks may be handled in character. Staff may "take" you and give you extra jail time instead of a ban, so you learn where you went wrong.
- Staff action does not need a report. Staff can remove anyone from the community at any time.
- Bans are appealed in the proper channel. Ban outcomes are never discussed in public.
Low-quality roleplay
If your roleplay keeps falling below the server's standard you can be removed, whoever you are. The health of the city comes first.
Friendly advice
- Treat NPCs as real citizens of San Andreas.
- If the police are working a scene you are not part of, stay out of it.
- Make roleplay for other people, not just yourself.
- Respect EMS, fire and police.
- Have fun!
The rules can change without notice. It is your responsibility to keep up with them. Staff holds the right to remove anyone from the community at any time.
